A Nobody from a Nowhere town. but he Just won’t seem to quiet down.

Jack Willow Jr. spent years beating down the blacktop, touring the Southeast in bands and by himself. Traveling and recording albums, including 2019’s King Fear, put him in and out of debt and struggling to make ends meet. “I love music, but the whole lifestyle, and a few of my creditors, damn near killed me,” he said in a 2020 interview. “I’d rather just make my tunes at the house and enjoy it.”

Since his retreat from touring, the singer-songwriter has swerved back to his roots with a string of country songs. “Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but my mama’s music just started making more sense,” he said in the same interview. His latest single “Carolina Reaper” (out August 2021) reflects that turn, with wailing country guitars, and mouth harps in tow.

His new tunes are part of a bigger psychedelic country project “Cosmic County,” release date TBD. “It’ll be done when it’s done,” says Willow. “I’m not letting the business take any more fun out of the tunes.” We can only hope he doesn’t.
